Here we go!

I am sitting on the bed, jotting down the amount of things I still have to do today before I go to get Karen and Bill. I realize that even if I had 3 more days, I wouldnt be able to get it all done. So, here is to hoping that no one minds that the house is full of boxes.

Today I take Alvin to get his new cranial band, then its off as fast as I can to Hartford to get Karen and Bill from the airport. Then hopefully a quiet evening at home. Tomorrow we finish the move since Bill will be here to help Eric with the taking the trampoline down. Tomorrow night is Alvin's bday party. So, to all those invited, please excuse the mountains of boxes all over the house! Its a work in progress people!

Eric is supposed to be starting a class at sub school on Tuesday. He will have that for 2 weeks, then he will be taking leave for a couple of weeks for Alvin's medical procedures. So, wish me luck in not killing Eric while he is on leave for that long.

Getting things in order (somewhat)

Well, you can walk through the house at least. We have the beds set up and most of the dressers/furniture put back together. Boxes still line every single wall in the house, but, its starting to come together. The beige walls are going to drive me insane. I just cant convince myself to paint though. Perhaps one week over the summer when I am feeling especially bored I will paint a room or two. I love living in a Crayola box, and blah beige is going to make me crazy.

Karen and Bill are coming up this weekend. So yay! That will be great! (dont worry, Eric doesnt ever read this.) I know for sure of one place we will be going this weekend. Paul's Pasta here to we come! Eric has been looking for an excuse to get pasta. So, this will give him one.

*sigh* Back to unpacking. I promise that one of these days I will have more time to just sit and blog.

I hate the Navy. I despise it. If it were a human, I would wish bodily harm on it.

This is what I get in email today:

i know how you just love change but as of right now i can't get those days off of work. i am trying a different plan right now, i will let know when i see you, i can't talk about it right now i think you will know why before you get this. i put an email out to everyone on the boat asking them for their help in moving when i get home. i'm sorry for the change but i am trying to get it done. so sorry. in other news i am going to have duty the day we pull in so there is another sorry for that one but we are going to have to work late on that day anyway.

Yeah. Wonderful. Great. So, yeah. He had duty the day before they left, he has duty the day they get home. Which, I have no damned clue when the hell that is going to be.

I hate the Navy.

Yes, I am alive

I have just been insanely busy. My birthday, Alvin's birthday, packing up the house, moving stuff down to the new house, doctor's appointment etc.

But, I do want to focus on something. It has officially been 1 year since the day I almost died. Since the day the doctor told the nurses to call my husband and a priest because it was doubtful I was going to make it.

One year ago, I had a 4 day old baby and a frightening infection called endometritis. Basically, my uterus had become one giant pus sack. I had a temp of 101 when Eric brought me to the emergency room, and a temp of 105 by 5 am. I was put on ice and had cooling blankets placed on my body. I wouldnt say I was consious for any of this, because I dont remember any of it besides hearing the doctor come in the room and tell the nurse that it was doubtful I was going to last much longer. I will tell you, I was scared. I couldnt open my eyes, I couldnt move. It was like I was in a coma, but I could hear bits and pieces of what was going on around me. I really dont remember much from that weekend, and I really dont remember much from the week prior to it. (I have no recollection of Alvin's birth).

To this day my short term memory is shoddy at best and I will likely never regain most of it. Guess that is the price you pay for surving a 106+ degree fever for several days

So, on this anniversary of my life, I sit here and ponder just how wonderful life is. No, my life isnt roses and rainbows. But, I am so glad that I am at least here on this earth.

Busy, busy, busy.

So yeah, been busy. Crazy busy. Insane busy. Been trying to move stuff down to the new house so that the only things left to move at the end of the month are the big things. Ie, dressers, beds, washer, dryer, etc. everything else, save maybe a week's worth of stuff, I want to try to have moved by the 20th. That way, I can have that weekend to put it all away. Then take a week to rest, and move all the big stuff the last Fri/Sat of the month. I am so excited to actually live in a house that I dont have to worry about drafts, mold, lead paint, etc.

Anyway, I am almost halfway through the week from hell. I have to go to New Haven tomorrow for Alvin's GI appointment. Thursday is Dentist at 10 and visiting nurse at 12:30. Then going out for Alvin's 1 year Bday with J and K. Friday is Alvin's 1 year appointment at the NACC at 9am, and then his sweat test down at Yale(New Haven again) at 12:30. Then, its on to more moving all weekend long. *sigh* I am so busy that I am forgetting to eat. I am feeding the kids, so no worries there. But I cant seem to take the time to feed myself. Bleah. Oh well, maybe I will lose some weight.

Anywho, wish me luck, patience, and understanding. This week just absolutely sucks.
